Writing isn’t just about putting words on a page—it’s about carving out time and energy to create while juggling life’s many roles. For me, that means balancing writing with parenting, grandparenting, and caring for aging parents. Lately, I’ve been more aware than ever that sustaining creative work isn’t about speed—it’s about learning how to keep going.

Some days, the words flow effortlessly. Other days, exhaustion takes over. But I remind myself that every step forward, no matter how small, counts. Whether I write a paragraph, brainstorm an idea while cooking dinner, or capture inspiration in a quick note, it all adds up.
I’ve learned to embrace the way I work, even if it looks different from others. My phone holds 38 albums filled with notes on characters, settings, and story ideas. I think in pictures, so I bring my stories to life visually—not just with words. I’ve even created images of my main characters and settings to see my world laid out before me. While I still write out character bios and outlines, visual storytelling is where I thrive. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
If you’re balancing multiple roles while chasing a dream, know this—you’re not alone. Keep going. One step, one idea, one word at a time. 💜
